53: Magic View

untitled

“Magic View”
approximately 6″W x 9″H inches; mixed media on 140 lb archival watercolor paper
$27 Unframed

This painting was inspired by a photograph of Hannah Loaring of Further Bound (she’s a traveler, {awesome} writer and graphic designer) during her travel to Goa. The large tree caught me by surprise and I find myself itching to paint those branches circling gracefully towards the heaven. Majestic.

I asked her for a title suggestion and she said that the tiny path that leads to this spot starts behind one of her favorite restaurants in Goa called Magic View. Immediately I felt goosebumps all over because that title is just awesome. It suits the painting perfectly!

Nature to me is one of the best gifts from God. To be able to breathe clean air and just “get lost” in inspiration and reflection–nature heals. Imagine lying on the soft blanket under the shade of this beauty while closing your eyes to the sound of the gentle waves crashing beneath. So peaceful.

Starting and finishing a painting is an exhilarating experience. I learned time and again about myself and about painting every time I pick up the brush. I realized that if I have listened to self-doubt then I wouldn’t have continued on this creative journey. Instead realizing that these negative elements come naturally to me (and to all of us) I continue with my process and that is to keep going with the sketching, painting, creating and learning.

“Make good art” as Dr. Neil Gaiman advised.

PS* I am grateful for Hannah’s enthusiasm in allowing me to paint her photo. I actually have one more photo of hers that I would like to paint. Thank you so much Hannah for your support and encouragement! Continue to inspire us with your words and photos! :)
